How much do you spend on your hobby? And a surprise giveaway.....

I came across this interesting link about how much quilters in the US spend on their hobby.  It has been quoted that some spend $500US a month - wow even with our dollar at parity with the US$ and knowing the difference in their prices per yd as compared with our prices per mtr that is still a lot of money.

My question is - How Much Do You Spend?  And Where, local shop, web, quilt shows?  You have to be truthful and as you know it is only 350 days to next Christmas Santa is still watching..... The best original and truthful answer, judged by my DS3 will receive 6 fat quarters from my stash.  But you must leave your email addy so I can contact you.  You have until next Saturday 15 January 2011 at 5.00pm (EST in Australia)

Hi Joy

Yes I was amazed when I read that. Serious spending. I would say that I spend much less than that, maybe on average $100 per month or even less. I mainly purchase from the USA due the cheaper price due the dollar.
I am housebound so can not access quilt shops and the likes. But I do think the industry is massive as there are just so many people returning to homemade anything. And I for one think it is great.

P.S I also have a blog if you have time to check in, its not just about sewing thouh. :)

Thanks so much

I could not tell you, Joy. My hobbies are varied, some months I spend a lot, some nothing...But $500? I don't think I would have time to do so much stitching anyway!

It would be hard to hide $500 worth of fat quarters! I'm making more out of my stash, so I think I'm spending less on fabric. I make a major quilt about, oh, every 18 months or so. I would spendabout $200 on fabric for the quilt but the leftovers keep the scrap quilts going for a long time!

I'm spending very little at the moment, needs must. Just have to be more creative with whatever I have!
