A very successful Exhibition

was held recently.  My local Guild - Geelong Patchwork & Quilter's Guild held their bi-annual exhibition a couple of weekends ago in the Antrium area of Deakin University's Waterfront Campus in Geelong.  Held over 3 days, Friday through to Sunday, many visitors passed through the doors and enjoyed some beautiful quilts.

The stunning entrance.

I spent a couple of hours working on the Members Trading Table - Jan is here folding some of the quilts we had for sale.
We also had a small display of Textiles from Croatia  organised by one of our members who has ties to the local Croatian community - some stunning embroidery and the colours, so clear and bright.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a specific quilt on display - I have only been a member for about 18 months and one of the rules is that you must have a 4" wide hanging pocket on the back of your quilt.  I usually only make a smaller pocket to suit how I'm going to hang my quilts at home.  I will be better prepared next time!

Here are a couple of quilts made by two friends of mine - this first one is by Sophia, absolutely stunning.  All reverse applique AND she won 1st Prize for First Time Entrant back in July at the big Quilt Exhibition by our state organisation Victorian Quilters.  All blue and white - completely hand done.
This beautiful quilt Jenni from Jacaranda made - a lovely version of Dear Hannah.

And this last one was made by a group of us in the Art Play group at Guild - we are a fairly new group and playing with Art quilting.  Sixteen of us contributed a 12x12 inch square made of any type of construction we wanted, but it had to be based on the world 'circles'.  We then joined the squares with metal rings.  We also won 1st Prize in our State guild's show in July in the Art Quilt Group Section.  My contribution is the pinkish quilt second from the right in the second row.  I felted mine onto a felt background which I had stamped and painted and then added some pearl flat buttons and hand stitching.

And finally, this is my little quilt all by itself, before it was incorporated into the big one.
The pink has come out slightly brighter than it really was.

Hope you enjoyed this little show.

It looks like a wonderful show with a great venue. I love Sophia's quilt and wondered if this is a version of the "Dear Jane" quilt. Take care.

There are so many craft shows in Geelong, but I never get to them, so it is lovely to see photos of them on blogs. Sophia's quilt is indeed fantastic!

Your group certainly has some high achievers in it! The entrance sphere is quite amazing.
Our patchwork group has a show every second year, and we draw some flack from other groups because we don't use hanging pockets - we put things up with bulldog clips. Works for us!
